Work for the Help Desk: Technician

Help Desk Technician -

Purpose of this job:
First level IT support for students, faculty and staff at Augustana.


Special Skills, qualifications or aptitudes for this job:
· Excellent verbal communication skills
· Desire and ability to learn new skills
· Ability to teach on a 1-1 basis
· Comfortable working with students, faculty and staff
· Basic understanding of computers (hardware and software)
· Must be able to work 20 hours per week


Special training desirable for this job:
· Specific training will be provided

Description of tasks:
· User support (phone, walk up and e-mail)
· Ghost computers when needed
· Answering user software questions
· Smart classroom and smart cart support
· Video editing support for the Macs in GSC 141
· You will be expected to follow a problem through until it is resolved (that will sometimes include escalating it to a full time staff member)
· Routine lab maintenance (cleaning, supplies etc)
· Supervision of student employees
· Organizing delivery and pick up of equipment as requested
· Keeping Track It data up to date
· Keeping all work areas organized
· Learn! Keep adding to your knowledge base. Continue to update your software skills. Make sure you are familiar with all the software on our Supported Software list. Gain expertise where you need it.
· Other tasks assigned by IT Staff

Normal Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 - 7:00,
Friday 8:00 - 5:00,
Possible Sunday hours 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
