WebCT
Tips
WebCT is an online course management system. It allows instructors to
place course materials in a secure online environment. Those materials
might include a course syllabus and calendar, links to online resources,
links to electronic reserves, and online threaded discussions.
Users gain access to their courses by logging into the system using their
username and password. Once a user logs in, all of the user’s courses
are listed in the user’s MyWebCT and can be accessed by clicking the course
links.
Where do go to I log in?
The direct URL for Augie’s WebCT courses is http://webct.augie.edu:3000
Students can also find a link to WebCT from the Current Student’s link
off the Augie homepage. Faculty can find a link to WebCT from the Faculty
& Staff link off the Augie homepage.
What is my WebCT username and password?
A student's username is the student’s Novell login. The password
is the student’s Augie ID.
Students can change their passwords
after they log in the first time using the “Change Password” link in the
upper right corner of their MyWebCT.
Do I need to do anything special to my computer to
make WebCT work?
You should set your browser to refresh every time you visit a page.
Most browsers are not set to do this automatically. They will simply
show you a cached (saved) version of the page. This might mean you will
miss out on changes that have occurred to the page since you last visited
it.
If you’re using Internet Explorer, go
up to Tools g Internet
Options… and click the “Settings” button in the Temporary Internet Files
section. Then click the “Every visit to the page” button.
