Augustana's Network

How do I connect to Augie's network from my room!

How does Augie's network work?

Augustana is served by a redundent DS3 Internet Connection - the equivilent of 28 T1 Circuits. The campus network is a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Category 5 Local Area Network. The backbone is 100 Mbps or more where needed. Residence Hall jacks are 10 or 10/100Mbps ethernet.

We run a Novell Netware 6 network. This network includes 5 Netware servers.

Viper is the faculty server.

Tucker is the student server. This is where your "J Drive" files and your shared files "K:Drive" are stored

Vette is the server we use for computer set up etc.

Nash is the main GroupWise server

Ole is the student e-mail server

We also have several other servers that are used for specific functions. (Virus scanning, WebCT, Listserv functions, Augie Forum) These servers run on a variety of platforms

Personal Network Storage space

When you are given a Novell login you are automatically assigned network storage space. You have a folder on the student server (Tucker) that uses your login. You can get to this folder only when you are logged in to Novell. Other users can not get to this space.

Shared Network Storage space

You may have a class that uses shared storage on Tucker (Shared on Tucker K:) Your professor will give you a folder name to look for. You may be given read only access to this folder or if you are expected to change or add documents to this folder you will be given the ability to write to the folder.
