Where should I store my files?
Desktop This is a good place to store temporary files or a file that you need to open several times a day. These files are accessible to anyone using your computer . These files are backed up only when you do it.
C Drive We recommend that files stored on your hard drive be kept in the My Documents folder. This keeps makes them easy to locate when we need to transfer files to another computer or rescue them from a failing system. This is a good place to store many of your documents. These files are accessible to anyone using your computer It is backed up only when you do it.
J Drive This is your personal network space. You must login using your Novell login and password to get to these files. Other users do not have access to these files. You can get to these files from off campus. This space is backed up each night Monday Friday.
K Drive You can also be given access to shared storage areas. Access to these folders is controlled by your Novell login and password. Some of these folders are open to all faculty and staff for general information. One example of this would be the campus directory. You can also have folders created and have those folders assigned to only members that you choose. This would let a department have a shared folder that only they can see. Folders can also be created for shared use by students. Folders used by students "live" on the student server "Tucker". These areas can also be accessed by faculty for class use. Rights can be assigned to customize access to the folders. Some will have rights to only look at a document and others can be given permission to modify the document and other will not see it at all. This space is backed up each night Monday Friday.
