Sorting Files in Windows Folders
When you view files in a Windows folder (for instance, if you are in Word and click "File" and "Open"), you can sort by any available heading. To view the available headings, click the "View" button:
Typically, files are sorted by name. But, if you are looking for a file that was created on a particular date, it might be better to sort files by date. Or, you may want to sort files by file size. To sort by any available heading, simply click the heading. To sort by date modified, click "Date Modifed". To sort by file size, click "Size".
If you click the heading a second time, it inverts the sort. So, if sorting by size, clicking "Size" once will result in files being sorted from smallest to largest. Clicking "Size" again will result in files being sorted from largest to smallest. (Clicking "Size" a third time will revert to sorting smallest to largest.)
