Moodle Login Instructions

Moodle is an online course management system.  It allows instructors to place course materials in a secure online environment.  Those materials might include a course syllabus and calendar, links to online resources, links to electronic reserves, and online threaded discussions.

Users gain access to their courses by logging into the system using their username and password.

Where do go to I log in?

The direct URL for Augie’s Moodle courses is http://moodle.augie.edu. Students can also find a link to Moodle from the Current Student’s link off the Augie homepage.  Faculty can find a link to Moodle from the Faculty & Staff link off the Augie homepage.

What is my Moodle username and password?

A student's username is the student’s Novell login.  The password is the student’s Augie ID.

Students can change their passwords after they log in the first time by clicking their name in the upper right corner. Then, they can click the “Change Password” button.

Am I automatically a student in the online course?

That depends.

  • Some instructors allow you to add (“enroll”) yourself (you log into Moodle, navigate to their course, click the course link and receive a message alerting you that you are about to “enroll” yourself in the course.)
  • Others allow you to add yourself to the course if you have the necessary course enrollment key, which is a special code your instructor will give you (again, you log into Moodle, navigate to the course, click the course link and receive a prompt to type your enrollment key.)
  • Still others add you to the course themselves, meaning you will see the course listed in your “My courses” block after you log in. Your instructor will let you know which of these three methods is used for their particular course.

Do I need to do anything special to my computer to make Moodle work?

You should set your browser to refresh every time you visit a page.  Most browsers are not set to do this automatically.  They will simply show you a cached (saved) version of the page.  This might mean you will miss out on changes that have occurred to the page since you last visited it.

If you’re using Internet Explorer, go up to Tools g Internet Options… and click the “Settings” button in the Temporary Internet Files section.  Then click the “Every visit to the page” button.
