Video Editing | Slide Scanning

Video Editing

Create your own videos and DVDs using footage from a video camera, or still images that have been scanned, or shot with a digital camera. Add interest to your video with music and voice-over, then output to VHS or DVD. Here's how to get started:

Call Media Services (Ext. 4920) to schedule the cameras you will need to create your video. We have:

  • Video cameras
    • We have digital video cameras (Canon and Panasonic) as well as full-size VHS video cameras for checkout.
  • Digital still cameras
    • Sony FD (Stores pictures on a floppy disk)
    • Sony CD (Stores pictures on a CD-R/RW)
    • Sony DSC-V1 (Stores pictures on a memory card)
    • Canon S70 (Stores pictures on a memory card)

Schedule a time to use the multimedia lab to edit your video.

Equipment available for video editing includes:

  • IMac and G5 computers
  • Windows desktop computer
    • All with DVD/CD-R/RW burners
  • Combination mini-DV and VHS videocassette recorder
  • Analog to digital media converter
    • This is a device which digitizes analog video so it can be edited using computer software, and converts digital video to analog so it can be output to VHS tape.
  • Television for use as an external monitor

Edit your video and still images

  • Software includes:
    • iLife6 suite of software including iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, iTunes etc.
    • Final Cut Studio suite
    • Final Cut Express
    • Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Photoshop Elements (for image editing)
  • Windows machine has:
    • Adobe Premiere Elements
    • Adobe Photoshop Elements

Slide Scanning
Nikon Slide Scanner

This scanning device digitizes 35mm slides so they can be used in a variety
of ways:

  • Powerpoint presentations
  • Printing to a color printer
  • Web pages
  • Multimedia presentations
  • Video slideshow
  • Stored on CD or DVD

Call Media Services to reserve a time to use the scanner. We are happy to help you get started, and to customize the settings so the resulting image is appropriate for your use.
