If you choose to include a thematic map in your paper, right click on the map and choose "Save picture as..."
Finding Vital Statistics
Birth and death rates plus the infant mortality rate for SD and SD counties as well as the U.S. can be found in the 2005 South Dakota Vital Statistics Report (Ref. RA151.V7 2005). This report will also give leading causes of death information for SD and SD counties. The most current data on leading causes of death for the U.S. can be found using the WISQARS Leading Causes of Deaths Reports, 1999-2004 from the CDC, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control web site. Use the most recent date available for each location (U.S., state, and county) and note the year.
Use the custom age range option in the "advanced options" section of the WISQARS Leading Causes of Deaths Reports, 1999-2004 from the CDC, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control web site to find the five leading causes of death for children ages 5-14 in the United States.
Links to the Dept. of Health web sites for other states are available from the CDC.
