Summary Provide a short paragraph which summarizes the science and identifies key issues/topics within your topic. (from Assignment 1).
Historically, the research emphasis has been on the prevention of AIDS through education and behavioral changes. Treatments focused on the secondary infections associated with AIDS. Current research centers on reducing the virus' ability to reproduce in the body. Some believe this may lead to a vaccine for the virus. Others worry that this emphasis will detract time and money from those suffering with the disease.

Investigative Question What are you trying to find out? What is the focus of your research?
Is the emphasis on research and funding an AIDS vaccine an effective use of the limited funds available for AIDS research?

Thesis Statement A statement which takes a stand on your selected topic using clear and specific language.
The focus on the discovery of an AIDS vaccine will significantly increase the number of people suffering, with little or no treatment, from the AIDS virus.
