Augustana College & Community Orchestra Seeks Players

SIOUX FALLS - Augustana College & Community Orchestra is accepting members for the 2008-2009 season.
The Orchestra is in need of all strings (violins, violas, cellos, basses), woodwinds (flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons), brass (French horns, trumpets, trombones, tuba), and percussion. Rehearsals are scheduled Sundays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in room 168 in the Humanities Center. The first rehearsal is September 7. The Humanities Center is located at 30th Street and Grange Avenue on the campus of Augustana College.
The Augustana College & Community Orchestra consists of students and community members. Its history in Sioux Falls dates back to its founding in the 1920s.
Christopher Stanichar is the new Director of Orchestras at Augustana College, having previously served as director of orchestras at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and conducting assistant for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He is also the director of the newly formed South Dakota Symphony Youth Orchestra.
The Augustana College & Community Orchestra allows its members to continue to hone their musical talents by playing favorite works of master composers, including Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and many others, in a fun-filled environment where music is shared among friends.
