Erickson recipient of CWS Jacobsen Internship
SIOUX FALLS - The Center for Western Studies (CWS) at Augustana College today announced that senior Andrew Erickson has once again been awarded the $5,000 Julius and Dorothy Jacobsen Internship.
Erickson, a German and theatre major from Humboldt, S.D., spent the 2007-2008 academic year as an intern at the Center, researching the history of live theater on Sioux Falls stages over the past 130 years. Among the results were a listing of more than 7,000 performances and the production, with cast and direction by Erickson, of a fund-raising dinner-theater production, “Footlights to Spotlights,” last June.
Erickson has worked as well as a student assistant in Augustana’s Office of Admission. He is an active member of the Augustana Theatre Company, president of the Alpha Psi Omega theater honorary society, and a member of the Collegiate Chorale.
Most recently he is the co-founder and managing director of Buhnenkunst Theatre Company, featuring German plays and contemporary theater. His objective after graduation is to obtain professional work as an educator and director.
