First Graduate of Luther House of Study to Receive Degree Saturday

After 20 years as a third grade teacher, Don Reiffenberger accepted God's call. On Saturday, he will become the first graduate of the Luther House of Study, a collaborative program between Augustana and Sioux Falls Seminary that is addressing the shortage of leadership in Lutheran congregations.
Augustana Dining Services Named Governor’s Award Winner

Augustana Dining Services has been named a 2011 Governor’s Award winner in the Outstanding Private Employer category for outstanding achievement in improving employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. Gov. Dennis Daugaard will present the award to College officials in June.

12 Students Named to German Honor Society

Twelve students have been inducted into the Augustana chapter of Delta Phi Alpha, the national honor society for students of German. The induction ceremony was held at the Fellows' Presidential Residence on Saturday, May 7.
340 Students to Participate in 2011 Commencement

On Saturday, May 21, 340 students will participate in the 2011 commencement ceremony, set for 2 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena. Doors will open at 1 p.m. for seating. Jane Zaloudek, class of 1972; Lowell Stortz, class of 1980; and Trent Anderson, class of 2011, are the featured speakers.
12 Students Inducted into National Physics Honor Society

Twelve Augustana students have been inducted into the College’s inaugural class of Sigma Pi Sigma, the national Physics Honor Society. The distinction honors their outstanding scholarship in physics, recognizes their service and celebrates their encouragement of exploration and discovery.

Augustana earned the No. 1 seed in the Central 1 Regional and will be one of 16 teams to host a three-day NCAA Regional Tournament. The Vikings will face No. 4-seeded Regis (Colo.) in the first round of the tournament Friday at 12 p.m., the NCAA announced Monday.
