Three Teams Place in Computer Programming Competition

SIOUX FALLS – Nine Augustana computer science students participated in the 2008 ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Computer Science Programming Contest November 15 at the University of South Dakota.

Sixteen teams from Augustana, USD, North Dakota State University, Northwestern College, Briar Cliff, Morningside, and Dordt were entered.

The Augustana team of Dan Day (Vermillion, SD), Matt Halse (Rock Rapids, IA), and Justin Dibbert (Sioux Falls) placed fourth. The team of Christina Harbaugh (Sioux Falls), Rachael Hanna (Des Moines, IA), and Matt Stoker (Norwalk, IA) placed seventh, and the team of Brian Kelley (Akron, IA), Bryan Simpkins (Sioux Falls), and Reza Hussain (Sioux Falls) placed eighth.

The Augustana teams are coach by Dr.Steve Shum, associate professor of computer science.
