    Augustana alumnus Kevin Nyberg, class of 1979, and his father, Roy, are the recipients of the 2010 South Dakota Retailer of the Year Award. They were chosen for their vision, commitment to outstanding customer service, and extensive involvement in civic and community activities.

  • Omaha sophomore receives Air Force ROTC scholarship

    Augustana sophomore Ryan Schuetz (Omaha, NE) has been awarded an Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (AFROTC) scholarship going toward tuition/fees, a monthly stipend, and a book allowance. Schuetz is majoring in Government/International Affairs.

  • Alumna Wins Metropolitan Opera District Competition

    Augustana alumna Alyssa Nance, class of 2008, won the Nebraska District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions held Saturday in Lincoln. She advances to the Upper Midwest Region Finals to be held February 6 in St. Paul, Minn.

  • Submissions Invited for Claire Donaldson Short Play Festival

    Augustana College and The Great Plains Dramatist Exchange seek submissions for the Claire Donaldson ‘8 in 48’ Short Play Festival. Submissions will be accepted through May 15, 2010. A scholarship and cash prizes are offered.

  • Students Engage with Historical Documents during Interim

    January finds Augustana students transcribing original historical documents on deposit in the College’s Center for Western Studies archives. The new course, “Unlocking the Archives,” supports both Augustana’s major in anthropology and minor in Northern Plains studies.

  • Alumnus Assists in Treatment of Haiti Earthquake Casualties

    Dr. Dale Peterson, class of 1960, is assisting in the medical treatment of those injured in the Haiti earthquake. He is a volunteer physician at Hôpital Sacré Coeur in Milot, located about 75 miles from Port-au-Prince.

    The Annual Report is now available online to view fundraising, endowment and economic performance, as well as quality and cost comparisons with other institutions. Augustana’s fiscal year runs from August 1, 2008, through July 31, 2009.

  • Augustana Alumni Safe Following Haiti Earthquake

    Two Augustana alumni were among the many American missionaries serving in Haiti at the time of Tuesday’s massive earthquake. Both Jonathan Larson, class of 2006, and Sarah Thomson, class of 2007, survived the disaster.
