First-Ever Faculty Film Festival to Debut with 'Salaam Bombay!'

Dr. Sandra Looney, professor of English, will lead the first-ever Faculty Film Festival with a showing and discussion of Salaam Bombay!, an Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Language film, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, in the Gilbert Science Center auditorium.

'No Impact Man' Author Colin Beavan to Speak on Campus Sept. 29

Dr. Colin Beavan and his family spent a year trying to live without negatively impacting the environment. His discussion, set for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29,  in the Chapel, will detail the struggles, frustrations and discoveries that come with adjusting to a new lifestyle.

Student-led 'Bread for the Apple' to Raise Money for NYC Soup Kitchen

In honor of the 10-year anniversary of 9-11, Augustana students will be hosting a series of bake sales and collecting donations for New York City’s Trinity Lutheran Church, a soup kitchen on the lower eastside of Manhattan that serves 1,000 meals to people in need each week.

Theatre Production Raises Awareness About Domestic Violence

To benefit the Children's Inn, the Augustana Theatre Company will make fleece blankets prior to the Sept. 23 performance of "A Lie of the Mind," a play by Sam Shepard that explores domestic violence. Audience members can also bring donations of new children’s pajamas and new or gently used teddy bears to the Sept. 24 performance.

Forum to Discuss Energy Revolution

Doug Berven, class of 1991 and vice president of Corporate Affairs for POET, will discuss “Revolutionizing Energy” at the Augustana Thought Leader Forum, set for 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, at CJ Callaway’s Event Center.

FREEDOM Film Tour Making Stop at Augustana Sept. 19

The FREEDOM Film Tour, featuring a documentary on alternative fuels and a full size, ethanol-burning, solar-panel-covered bus will roll through campus on Monday, Sept. 19. The FREEDOM Bus will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. outside of Morrison Commons. The film will be shown at 7 p.m. in Kresge. Both are free and open to the public.

Exhibit to Commemorate 10-Year Anniversary of 9-11

“Words of Art: Remembering 9-11,” an interactive memorial exhibition of written reflections and musings in commemoration of the 10-year anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, will be on display in the Siverson Lounge from September 11 through October 16.
