SIOUX FALLS – For the past 90 years, Augustana has enjoyed a special relationship with Sioux Falls, a city that is now ranked first on the Forbes.com list of Best Small Metro Areas for Business and Careers.
Cities are rated on a number of criteria including cost of doing business and education attainment. New to the list this year were projected job growth and subprime mortgage categories.
“Sioux Falls offers our students hundreds of opportunities in art, music, theatre, semi-professional sports, internships related to almost any career, research, part-time jobs and, ultimately, great options for employment upon graduation,” said Bob Preloger, Augustana Vice President for Marketing and Communications. “This Forbes recognition is one more affirmation of how great a place this is for our students and for our graduates.”
Mary Medema, director of work force development for the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, said Sioux Falls has ranked at the top of the list for several years.
“We’re hopeful that the things that we’ve put in place are going to sustain us through this down period, too,” she said.
