Augustana Theatre Presents the 2009 New Works Bash

SIOUX FALLS – Augustana Theatre announces the New Works Bash, an exciting opportunity for playwrights to share their latest work with an audience at an early stage in the play’s development.

The Bash will feature staged readings of three new plays over the course of three days. The plays will be read by Augustana and Sioux Falls community actors and then the audience will have an opportunity to give direct feedback to the playwright. This is an invaluable part of the playwriting process, leading to further re-writes and eventual production of the plays.

The Bash begins on Sunday, September 27, at 7:00 p.m. with “Yazoo” by Daniel Holloway of San Francisco, California.

On Monday, September 28, Augustana student Jon Josten’s short play, “The Tragic Conversation of Gilbert and Gourd,” will be read at 8:00 p.m.

The Bash ends on Tuesday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. with “Awake in Me” by Dr. Ivan Fuller, Professor of Theatre and Chair of the Department of Performing & Visual Arts at Augustana.

The Bash will be held in the Edith Mortenson Center’s Acting Studio. The event is free and open to the public.
