On May 21, research work completed by current and former Augustana students will be delivered at an invited talk at the American Physical Society (APS) Division of Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics (DAMOP) meeting in Charlottesville, VA.
Sioux Falls Mayor Dave Munson has proclaimed May 14, 2009, as Augustana College and Community Band Day. Twenty-five people attended the first rehearsal in the fall of 1989. Today, there are more than 100 members.
Mark Hecht, Director of Recreational Services at Augustana College, received a Regional Award of Merit from the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) for outstanding contributions made on a regional and statewide basis.
Joe Coppock, a senior from Sioux Falls, is the recipient of the Augustana Covenant Award for Excellence. Coppock has pursued a double major—chemistry (ACS) and biology—and will graduate cum laude on May 24.
Beth Singleton has served on the Campus Ministry staff for the past three years as an ambassador and as a coordinator of Outreach Ministries. As president, she will chair meetings of the Campus Ministry staff during the 2009-2010 academic year.
Bethany Jochim, a sophomore physics major from Pierre, SD, is the lead author of an article published in the Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics, published by the Institute of Physics.
