Biology Professor Named Associate Academic Dean
SIOUX FALLS, SD – Dr. Michael Wanous, a faculty member at Augustana College since 1997, has been appointed Associate Academic Dean.
The appointment is effective August 1, 2010. Dr. Wanous’ promotion to full professor (biology) was recently approved by the Augustana Board of Trustees. He is currently serving as chair of the Natural Science Division.
Dr. Wanous received his bachelor’s degree in agronomy at the University of Minnesota, his master’s in plant breeding at Texas A&M University, and his Ph.D. in genetics at the University of Missouri-Columbia. At Augustana, Dr. Wanous has taught introductory biology, cell biology, genetics, and molecular biology. His research has focused on wheat genetics.
Dr. Wanous is excited about his new role at the College and looks forward to new challenges, and new opportunities to serve Augustana faculty and students as the College grows toward the goal of becoming a premier church-related college in America.
