Augustana Ranked 9th in Learfield Sports Director's Cup Standings

Behind a strong performance during the winter sports season, Augustana vaulted into the top 10 of the Division II Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced today.
Augustana scored 248.50 points during the winter sports season to bring its yearly total to 359.50. The Vikings are now ranked ninth in the nation, the highest the program has ever been ranked. Augustana was in 35th place after the fall sports season.
The Vikings enjoyed one of their most successful winter seasons in school history as four teams scored points. The wrestling team finished second in the nation, while the men's basketball team tied for ninth place. Augustana was also tied for 17th place in women's basketball and 29th in women's track and field.
Augustana is one of three Northern Sun Intercollegiate schools ranked in the top 10. Minnesota State University, Mankato, is fourth at 394.50 points, while Minnesota Duluth is sixth at 380.00 points.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup is a program that honors institutions maintaining a broad-based program, the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup honors those programs achieving success in many sports, both men’s and women’s. Begining in 1993-94 for Division I by NACDA and USA Today, it was expanded in 1995-96 to include Division II, III and the NAIA. Each institution is awarded points in a predetermined number of sports for men and women.
The overall champion is the institution that records the highest number of points in their division’s Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings.
