Two Administrators Receive Granskou Awards
SIOUX FALLS, SD - Proposals targeting digitized media will share the 2010 Granskou Award at Augustana College.
Deb Hagemeier, Mikkelsen Library assistant director, received $1,750 toward her Augustana Album project. Peggy Kapusta, director of online communications, was awarded $750 toward her Photo Repository proposal.
Augustana alumni from the era of Augustana President Clemens M. Granskou (1932-1943) established an endowed fund to support the annual Granskou Award for professional development. The selection committee accepts proposals from faculty and administrators in alternate years.
Says Hagemeier (shown above, left), “The Augustana Album project is the creation of an archive of Augustana’s core publications, beginning with the EDDA and the Mirror. A searchable web-based interface would provide content to our campus and alumni as well as preserve the print documents.”
Kapusta (shown left) says Augustana’s website and publications are very dependent on photographic imagery for its color and branding elements. “This proposal sets out a plan for setting up a website-based photo repository that may be accessed and shared by all College departments and offices, and especially student publication staffs of the Mirror newspaper and EDDA yearbook.”
Both projects are being pursued in preparation for the celebration of Augustana's 150th anniversary.
