Video Conversations With Emeriti Featured on Augustana Website

Members of the Augustana community and alumni can now hear iconic voices from the College’s past talk about their experiences on campus from the 1930s through the 1980s.

Launched in honor of the Augustana Sesquicentennial, the new “Conversations With Emeriti” page includes video interviews conducted by Dr. Sven Froiland, professor emeritus of Biology. Interviewees include Dr. Arie Gaalswyk, professor emeritus of Math; J. Earl Lee, professor emeritus of Music; Clara Lee, professor emeritus of Speech; Milton Harvey, administrator/instructor; Dr. Palmer Eide, professor emeritus of Art; and Margaret Cashman, professor emeritus of Nursing.

A central figure at Augustana from 1946 until 1988, Froiland was instrumental in the development of Gilbert Science Center and in establishing the College's outstanding reputation in the natural sciences. His “Conversations with Emeriti” interviews were conducted in 1988 as part of an oral history project.
