Volleyball Match Set to Fight Against Breast Cancer

In an effort to raise money for breast cancer research and to help support victims, survivors and families, Augustana’s volleyball team is hosting a “Dig Pink” event during its match against Northern State University on Saturday, Oct. 23.

The match begins at 4 p.m. in the Elmen Center’s Hall Sports Forum.

T-Shirts will be available for $10 at the Elmen Center and can be ordered online. Donations may also be made online. All proceeds go to the Side-Out Foundation, a non-profit organization that combines the love of volleyball with a passionate desire to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. Over the last two years, Augustana volleyball players have raised nearly $4,000 to support Side-Out’s efforts. The team has a goal to contribute $1,500 more in 2010.

Information tables will be set up and reading materials on breast cancer will be available for fans attending the match. Following the match, refreshments will be served in the Elmen Center to honor breast cancer survivors.

Information regarding the upcoming match is posted on the team's blog, Facebook, and online at www.goaugie.com.
