Tuesday, August 30, 2011
Dianne Hammrich, former administrative assistant to the Academic Dean, died on Sunday, Aug. 28, following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 60.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Ave. The family will be present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Hammrich joined Augustana's Food Service team in 1986. She also worked in the Business Office and later served in the Office of Academic Affairs until retiring in 2009.
"Dianne was a person who cared deeply about Augustana and we will miss her," said Dr. Murray Haar, senior vice president for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College.
Cared deeply about Augustana, indeed. Every February, Hammrich, an experienced and gourmet cook, made 1,500 individual desserts which were used for the Augustana Library Associates annual event. She also routinely supplied the faculty with treats for their monthly meetings.
