In the News: Augustana Students Learn Fire Safety Measures

With the start of classes just days away, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue officials conducted fire safety education with Augustana peer advisors Wednesday on campus.

The peer advisors learned about general fire safety and received hands-on fire extinguisher training. They viewed a sprinklered room versus non-sprinklered-room live fire demonstration, participated in an evacuation drill from a smoke-filled environment, and took part in a high-rise, aerial truck-assisted rescue from the top floor of Stavig Hall.

Fire Rescue officials said their goal was to make the students aware of fire dangers, to prevent fires and to learn how to safely respond to situations involving fire if one should occur.
