Cathro Awarded Travel Grant

Sophomore Dillon Cathro (Omaha, Neb.) has been awarded a Benjamin Franklin Travel Grant by the French government, the Department of Modern Foreign Language announced on May 17.

The travel grant is named after Benjamin Franklin, a man of the Enlightenment, a philosopher and scientist, a great diplomat and friend of France. The grant gives students enrolled in an American university an opportunity to discover France. Recipients of the grant will get a stipend of up to $1,500 to pursue academic studies or internships in France.

To be eligible, candidates must be sophomore, junior or senior college students with double majors in French and another discipline, and at least 18 years of age by the date of departure. Students with a minor/certificate in French and a major in another subject are also considered.

Cathro is a double major in French and Spanish. He will be studying at the University of Grenoble, France, in spring 2014.
