U.S. News Gives Top Marks to Augustana

For the third year in a row, U.S. News has ranked Augustana among the best colleges in the Midwest.

Augustana is ranked No. 3 among the "Best Regional Colleges in the Midwest" according to the latest edition of “Best Colleges 2014” by U.S. News Media Group. The College also received high rankings in the report’s analysis of schools that offer students the best value. Among the regional colleges listed in the “Best Value Schools” study, Augustana is ranked No. 2 in the Midwest.

The report, which ranks nearly 1,800 schools nationwide, classifies a regional college as a school that focuses entirely on the undergraduate experience and offers a broad range of programs in the liberal arts and in fields such as business, nursing and education.

In its "Best Regional Colleges" analysis, the report examines key measurements, including freshman retention rate, average graduation rate, student-to-faculty ratio, the percentage of full-time faculty members, SAT/ACT percentiles and acceptance rates.

In its "Best Value Schools" analysis, the study compared academic quality and net cost of attendance for students who receive the average level of need-based financial aid. As the study indicates, “the higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal.”

Recently, Augustana was featured among “America’s Top Colleges” by Forbes and was listed among the best colleges in the Midwest by the Princeton Review.
