Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (EDHH) Program Approved for Expansion

Following a recent vote of approval by the South Dakota Department of Education, Augustana’s K-12 Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (EDHH) Program will expand to a Birth through Age 21 program. Augustana continues to be the only Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program in the region.

Friendship Families Sought for International Students

Calling all Sioux Falls-area families interested in learning about other cultures, languages and traditions. Augustana is seeking area families to support its Friendship Family Program, a welcome initiative designed to provide a support network for new and returning international students.

At JazzFest this weekend, thousands will wear a t-shirt designed by Augustana senior art major Sarah Goette. In addition to the shirts, the three-day music festival will feature performances by members of the JazzFest Jazz Camp, held at Augustana under the direction of Dr. Paul Schilf, alumni Jon and Jeremy Hegg of The Hegg Brothers and class of 2012 grad Chris Borchardt. Augustana Math Professor Flies with the Blue Angels

Four Named Sophomore Honors Recipients

Rising juniors Amanda Johnson of Sioux Falls; Jessica Johnson of Sioux Falls; Ashley Schmidt of Mitchell; and Ruthellen Tornberg of Harrisburg have been selected to receive the prestigious Sophomore Honors Award.

Ahead of European Tour, The Augustana Choir Partners With Macy's

To raise funds for its 2013 European tour, The Augustana Choir is partnering with Macy’s in its “Shop for a Cause” charity shopping event, set for Saturday, Aug. 25. Tickets can be purchased from any Choir member, through the Augustana Music Department, or by calling 605.274.5508.

Dr. Paul Schilf Named Executive Director for SDMEA

Dr. Paul Schilf, assistant professor of music, has been named the executive director of the South Dakota Music Education Association. In his new role, Schilf will be responsible for providing leadership and advocacy for music education throughout the state. He will maintain his post at Augustana while serving in this new position.
