  • Host, Friendship Families Sought for International Students

    This fall, Augustana will welcome approximately 75 new international students from more than 40 countries all over the world. The College is seeking friendship and host families to befriend a new student, offer opportunities for home-cooked meals, and create opportunities to participate in various cultural or community activities throughout the year, beginning Friday, Aug. 9.

  • Film by Alumnus to Debut at Comic-Con in San Diego

    “Dust of War,” an independent film shot in South Dakota by alumnus Andrew Kightlinger, is set to make its premiere at San Diego’s Comic-Con this month. The film tells the story of a lone soldier who fends off a warmonger to rescue a girl fated to be the savior of mankind.

  • Augustana Students Conduct Summer Research

    Seventy Augustana students are spending the summer conducting scientific research at facilities throughout the U.S. as part of the College's Undergraduate Summer Research Program, an initiative that places students in laboratories, hospitals and research institutions nationwide.

  • Sanford Research-Augustana College Earn $320,000 National Grant for Undergraduate Research

    The three-year, $320,000 grant is to establish a Research Experiences for Undergraduates site for the exploration of topics in cellular and molecular biology. The grant will offer $5,000 stipends to 10 students for participation in 10-week research programs.

  • The Augustana: Summer 2013

    In the Summer 2013 issue of The Augustana, we share the stories of “Augustana legacy families” – those whose ties to this great place have spanned generations including, the Rev. David Johnson, class of 1956, whose Augustana story first began in 1927 and continues on today in his grandchildren; Augustana Professor Emeritus of Music Dr. Leland Lillehaug, class of 1951, whose three children grew up on campus, earned their degrees here, and still hold fond memories of Augustana deep in their hearts; Jeff Fylling ‘78, longtime “Voice of the Vikings,” who has artfully chronicled the play-by-play stories of our Football and Basketball teams for nearly four decades; and others.

  • Augustana Graduate Wins Academic Scholarship at Miss Minnesota

    Recent Augustana graduate, Drew Trahms, was awarded the Miss America Academic Scholarship at the Miss Minnesota pageant earlier this month. The award is given to one contestant at every state-level pageant.

  • Biology Professor Receives Granskou Award

    Dr. Carrie Hall, assistant biology professor, has been awarded the 2013 Granskou award. The grant goes to support the career goals of either a member of the Augustana faculty or administration.

  • Kightlinger's Film to Be Screened at International Film Festival

    Paper People, a film by Andrew Kightlinger ‘08, has been selected to be screened at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, one of the largest showcases of short films in North America, set for June 18-24. Paper People was filmed entirely during the spring of 2012 in Pierre, S.D.

  • Students Named to Spring 2013 Dean's List

    Augustana has announced the students who have been named to the Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. The Dean's list recognizes high achieving, full-time students.

  • Student Researchers Honored at Science Festival

    Research done by 2012 graduate Sarah Zokaites and senior Matt Anderson took first and second place in the undergraduate poster session at the second annual "It's All About Science" festival held Saturday, June 8, at the Sanford Center in Sioux Falls.
