With the rain crashing down and water gushing through the streets, Larry Kraemer and Kent Wilson raced to rescue a man trapped in his car near the Elmen Center yesterday afternoon.
Robert Aldern, Professor Emeritus of Art, Dies at 82

Called a "guiding light for the Art Department and for Augustana College," Robert Aldern, professor emeritus of Art, former department chair and Artist-in-Residence, died on Saturday, June 11. He was 82. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Gift Will Name Soccer Field

'A Harvest of Words' Named Finalist for High Plains Book Award

“A Harvest of Words: Contemporary South Dakota Poetry,” the anthology edited by Dr. Patrick Hicks, Augustana's Writer-in-Residence, and published by the Center for Western Studies, has been named a finalist for a High Plains Book Award. Hicks will read from the book at the annual CWS June Event, "Song and Poetry of the Great Plains," set for Tuesday, June 14.

Two hundred local business owners and entrepreneurs learned more about “Innovation in a Changing Marketplace” at the third annual Sioux Falls Business Conference, held earlier today on Augustana's campus. Featured speakers included Jeff Broin, CEO of POET, and Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether.

Tomorrow's Sioux Falls Business Conference will feature Augustana alumni and faculty member as panelists and moderators. Themed “Innovation in a Changing Marketplace,” the conference will bring together local and regional business experts to discuss the changing Sioux Falls marketplace.

Former First Lady of Augustana, Anne Svendsbye, Dies at 84

Annelotte “Anne” Svendsbye, the wife of Dr. Lloyd Svendsbye, Augustana’s 19th president from 1987-1992, died on Tuesday, May 24. She was 84. Funeral services are set for Wednesday, June 1, in Edina, Minn.
