Concerto-Aria Winners Announced

Four students were named winners of the 2014 Concerto-Aria competition, held on Sunday, March 2, in the Humanities Center:

  • Carryn Kennedy (soprano), class of 2016, a native of Centennial, Colo., and a student of Dr. Lisa Grevlos, performing Jacques Offenbach: “Ella a fui, la tourterelle!” from Tales of Hoffmann
  • Spencer Kruse (oboe), class of 2015, a native of Pipestone, Minn., and a student of Jeffrey Paul, performing Ralph Vaughan Williams: "Oboe Concerto"
  • Michelle Ritter (piano), class of 2015, a native of Andover, Minn., and a student of Dr. Rick Andrews, performing Sergei Rachmaninoff: "Piano Concerto no. 2" (first movement)
  • Sarah Stevens (mezzo-soprano), class of 2016, a native of Kansas City, Mo., and a student of Dr. Lisa Grevlos, performing George Frideric Handel: “Lasciach’iopianga” from Rinaldo

Kennedy, Kruse, Ritter and Stevens will perform with the Augustana Orchestra in the Augustana Performing and Visual Arts' annual Concerto-Aria concert, set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at the Harrisburg Performing Arts Center. Tickets for this concert are available at www.augietickets.com.
