Houston Assigns Salmela to Tri-City ValleyCats

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Houston Astros have assigned Andy Salmela, a 2002 graduate of Augustana College, to the Tri-City ValleyCats.

The ValleyCats, based in Troy, N.Y., compete in the Class A New York-Penn League. Salmela, Cottage Grove, Minn., was selected by the Astros on June 5, 2002, in the 31st round of the Major League Baseball First-year Player Draft.

A two-time All-North Central Conference selection, Salmela established three Augustana career records during his four seasons. He graduated in May with a degree in computer science.
