Augustana's Salmela and Groebner Named to All-Conference Team

SIOUX FALLS - Augustana seniors Andy Salmela and Doug Groebner have been selected to the 2002 All-North Central Conference baseball team announced today by the league office.

Salmela, Cottage Grove, Minn., is a two-time all-conference pick. Groebner, Coon Rapids, Minn., is making his first appearance on the squad.

Salmela set Augustana career records for doubles (40), RBIs (145), and hits (185). This season he led the Vikings in hitting (.400), hits (66), doubles (17), home runs (6) and RBIs (45).

Groebner set a school career record for runs scored with 156. He hit .357 this year. The infielder/pitcher also posted a 4-0 record with a 7.59 earned run average. He registered one complete game.
