Augustana students inducted into French Honor Society

Augustana students (from left to right) Ella Ng Kai Ni, Amber Ellis, Donovan Fravel, Connor Auch, and Carolina Beck were inducted into the national collegiate French honor society.

Five Augustana students were inducted into the University's Mu Alpha chapter of Pi Delta Phi, the national French Honor Society, on Wednesday, March 9:

  • Connor Auch, a senior from Sioux Falls
  • Carolina Beck, a senior from Mitchell, South Dakota
  • Amber Ellis, a senior from Spencer, Iowa
  • Donovan Fravel, a senior from Sioux Falls
  • Ella Ng Kai Ni, a junior from Hong Kong

Pi Delta Pi, established in 1906 at the University of California, Berkeley, is the oldest national academic society for a foreign language in the United States and currently has more than 375 chapters and 75,000 members. The purpose of the Society is to recognize outstanding scholarship in the French language and Francophone literature, to increase the knowledge and appreciation of Americans for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and to stimulate and to encourage French and Francophone cultural activities. Augustana's Mu Alpha chapter was established in 1997 and is the only chapter of the Society in South Dakota. The faculty advisor is Dr. Scott Fish.
