SIOUX FALLS - Thirty-two student, faculty, and staff teams will represent Augustana in the college’s 13th annual Community Service Day on Saturday, April 29.
The theme for this year’s event is “Delivering Service One Day at a Time.”
Kickoff is set for 9:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Reconciliation on the Augustana campus. Teams plan to be at their assigned agencies and on the job by 10:00 a.m. Projects are scheduled to be completed by 3:00 p.m.
Among the 32 agencies benefiting from these volunteer efforts are the Salvation Army (spring cleanup and car wash), Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church (outdoor cleanup), Saint Francis House (outdoor cleanup), St. Vincent DePaul (spring cleanup), Volunteers of America (spring cleanup), Workers on Wheels (visiting the homes of elderly residents and spring cleanup), YWCA/YMCA (outdoor cleanup), Berakhah House (window washing), Furniture Mission (move furniture), Girls Scouts (window washing).
New this year is a team of Augustana graduates, who are joining the effort as part of the annual spring alumni meeting.
A tradition at Augustana, Community Service Day is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to lift up the college’s fundamental value of Service.
