SIOUX FALLS – Augustana alumnus Per Pharo returns to campus April 20 to give a talk on U.S.-Norwegian relations.
Pharo, who graduated from Augustana in 1994, is Deputy Director of Management and Budget in the Norwegian Ministry of Defense. His talk is titled U.S.-Norwegian Relations in a Changing World. His presentation is free and open to the public and begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Morrison Commons Back Alley.
Since his graduation, Pharo has held a number of posts with increasing responsibility in the Norwegian government. Most recently he was the No. 2 person at Norway’s mission to NATO headquarters in Belgium. He has been a chief executive officer for security policy, senior advisor for planning and economics, and a director of department for defense policy and long-term planning. He has published several articles on international policy-making, especially in regards to NATO and Norway’s involvement in the Balkans.
Pharo is the featured speaker at Augustana’s Department of Government and International Affairs spring banquet. His visit is part of a series of Norwegian guests that Augustana has hosted throughout the 2005-2006 school year. He is also in this country to participate in the Boston Marathon.
