SIOUX FALLS – Augustana pitcher Nate Schwartz has been named North Central Conference pitcher of the week for the week ending April 2.
Schwartz, a senior from Milwaukee, Wis., improved to 2-0 on the season after making two appearances last week. He worked two innings of scoreless relief in Augie’s 8-7, 10-inning loss to No. 20 North Alabama. He yielded one hit and retired one batter on strikes.
He followed with a complete-game, three-hitter to lead the Vikings past Northern State University, 3-1. He surrendered three hits, struck out nine, and issued just three walks.
It’s the second time this season Schwartz has been honored by the conference for his efforts on the mound.
