SIOUX FALLS – Dr. James Johnson, head of choral music at Augustana College and director of the Augustana Choir, will serve as a guest conductor for the National Lutheran Choir’s 20th anniversary season-ending concert on April 28.
The National Lutheran Choir currently has 62 members and four are graduates of Augustana College – Bjorn Arneson ’00 (Minneapolis, MN), Charles Hoff ’64 (Prior Lake, MN), Annelise Strommen ’01 (St. Paul, MN), and Dain Swanson ’02 (Brooklyn Center, MN).
The National Lutheran Choir’s 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert is Friday, April 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Wayzata Community Church in Wayzata, Minn.
The National Lutheran Choir, founded by Dr. Larry Fleming in 1986, is comprised of professional choral musicians who perform literature from the entire spectrum of sacred choral works, with and without instrumental accompaniment. Selected by auditions held each May, the singers are drawn from a 200-mile radius of Minneapolis/St. Paul for weekly rehearsals. They represent the various Lutheran Church bodies whose many colleges and universities have provided their undergraduate education. All have received advanced training and most are professionally active in various areas of music.
