SIOUX FALLS – Augustana’s Ashley Holiday has been selected the North Central Conference women’s basketball player of the week, the league office announced Monday. She shares the award with Erika Quigley of St. Cloud State.
Holiday, 6-foot-2 post player from Hayti, S.D., was outstanding in the Vikings’ wins over No. 4 St. Cloud State and Minnesota State University-Mankato. She rang up 13 points, collected seven rebounds, and registered four steals against St. Cloud. She made 6 of 8 shots from the field.
Against Minnesota State, Holiday notched her first triple-double and just the third in school history as she blocked a school-record 12 shots to go along with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She now has 67 blocks, surpassing the 61 she swatted a year ago.
In claiming her first player of the week award, Holiday averaged 12 points, 9 rebounds, 6.5 blocks, and 2.5 steals and shot 67 percent from the field.
Augustana is 19-7 for the season and 7-4 in the NCC. The Vikings play at the University of South Dakota Thursday night.
