SIOUX FALLS – The Augustana chemistry department and the Sioux Valley Local Section of the American Chemical Society are sponsoring a lecture by Dr. Bill Mattson at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, in Gilbert Science Center room 241.
Creative Problem Solving for Chemists, Other Scientists and Everyone! is the title of Dr. Mattson’s presentation.
This presentation includes an interactive discussion of some important steps to follow when trying to solve problems, including those encountered when doing research; some insights into mental blocks that limit our problem solving abilities; listing some characteristics of creative people; and some additional suggestions for improving creative problem solving abilities.
Dr. Mattson is a professor of analytical chemistry at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, VA. He has been teaching creative problem solving for more than 25 years.
Past responses from numerous presentations suggest that regardless of whether or not you are a scientist, this interactive presentation will be worthy for both its value and its thought provoking and entertaining elements.
