SIOUX FALLS – Augustana College and the American Cancer Society present “Relay for Life 2006” Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7.
For 12 hours, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, teams will walk Augustana’s Campus Green and participate in a variety of activities, including a survivors lap. All money raised goes to funding research in the battle to eliminate cancer.
This is the third annual “Relay for Life” at Augustana. This year’s theme is “Uniting the Augie Community” in the fight against cancer. Academy House, one of the college’s theme homes, is coordinating the event.
Activities include a luminaria ceremony, improv performance, bingo, karaoke, twister tournament, glo games, salsa dancing, bonfire, and talent show.
Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:00 a.m. Sunday.
The public is invited to participate.
According to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life events in 2005 raised more than $350 million to fund cancer research, educate the community about early detection, and provide local services to patients and their families.
