SIOUX FALLS - Dr. Reynold Nesiba, associate professor of economics, is the recipient of the Vernon and Mildred Niebuhr Faculty Excellence Award.
Augustana President Bruce R. Halverson presented the award during the College’s 146th Commencement Service on Sunday at the Sioux Falls Arena.
The Vernon and Mildred Niebuhr Faculty Excellence Award was established to provide an annual award to recognize excellence in teaching. The winner is chosen for brilliance in classroom teaching. The award is provided by Dick Niebuhr, Aberdeen, S.D., who graduated from Augustana in 1966. It is named in honor of his parents, “because they loved Augustana dearly and because they were my first teachers.”
The recipient of the award receives $5,000.
Earlier this month Dr. Nesiba was the recipient of the Augustana Student Association Faculty Recognition Award.
Dr. Nesiba began teaching at Augustana in 1995. He received his BA from the University of Denver, and his MA and Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame.
