SIOUX FALLS – Eight Augustana College students have been awarded Fred C. and J. Marie Christopherson Scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year.
The Augustana Faculty Scholarship and Awards Committee made the selections on the basis of scholarship, campus/community service, and how well the nominees fit the description of the donors as someone “equipped for life.”
Fred C. Christopherson, who died in 1989, was the editor of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader for 31 years. J. Marie Christopherson, who died in 1989, wrote the Driftwood column printed in the Argus Leader for 20 years.
The 2007-2008 recipients are:
Katie Barth, Sioux Falls. Katie is a junior majoring in English and journalism. She is the daughter of Deana and Dr. Richard Barth.
Elizabeth Frost, Red Wing, Minn. Elizabeth is a junior majoring in psychology and sociology. She is the daughter of Ann and Jeffery Frost.
Kelly Goertzen, Woodbury, Minn. Kelly is a junior majoring in history. She is the daughter of LuAnn and Ross Goertzen.
Jamie Horter, Bristol, S.D. Jamie is a sophomore majoring in chemistry and art. She is the daughter of Bonnie and Randy Horter.
Kyle Knips, Adrian, Minn. Kyle is a junior majoring in elementary education. He is the son of Cindy and Kevin Knips.
Nazifa Nabizada, Sioux Falls. Nazifa is a junior majoring in biology.
Cassie Pfeiffer, Mountain Lake, Minn. Cassie is a junior majoring in psychology and special education. She is the daughter of Kris Pfeiffer.
Jennifer Sandquist, Aberdeen, S.D. Jennifer is a junior majoring in athletic training and exercise science. She is the daughter of Gloria and Dean Kiefer.
