Poet Richard Jones Visits Augustana
SIOUX FALLS – Richard Jones, celebrated American poet, will be reading at Augustana on Wednesday, April 25, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Kresge Recital Hall. A book-signing will follow.
“We are lucky to have Richard Jones coming to visit us and I am delighted that his work fits so beautifully with our commitment to a Semester of Peace,” says Dr. Patrick Hicks, assistant professor of English/journalism.
Richard Jones is the author of several books of poems, including Country of Air, At Last We Enter Paradise, A Perfect Time, and The Blessing, which received the Midland Authors Award for Poetry in 2000. Poems from The Blessing have also been featured on NPR, BBC Radio, The Writer’s Almanac, and on the World Wide Web’s Poetry Daily.
Jones’ most recent publication, Apropos of Nothing, came out in 2006 with Cooper Canyon Press. He is the editor of the distinguished literary journal Poetry East, is a full professor of English, and is the director of the creative writing program at DePaul University in Chicago.
His appearance is co-sponsored by the Augustana Union Board of Governors, and the Augustana Mellon Fund.
