SIOUX FALLS – Augustana’s Rachel Stangler (Albany, MN) and Lindsey Schultz (Lakeville, MN) have qualified for the NCAA Division II indoor track and field championships March 9-10 in Boston.
Stangler, a junior, qualified for the 5,000 meters. She has a best time of 17:18.59 this season posted at the Frank Sevigne Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., and is currently ranked 13th in the nation.
Schultz, a junior, qualified in the shot put. Her best mark of the season came a week ago when she won the North Central Conference championship with a toss of 47-¼. She is currently ranked fifth in the nation.
Schultz will compete at noon (EST) on Saturday, March 10, while Stangler runs at 5:48 p.m.
“We are very excited that Lindsey and Rachel have qualified for the national indoor championships,” said Vikings head coach Tracy Hellman. “Both are experienced athletes and have been to a national championship event before. This will certainly help their focus and goal of attaining All-America status, which is given to the top eight in each event. We are extremely pleased these two young ladies are representing Augie track and field at the national meet.”
