SIOUX FALLS – Lindsay Ammann of Sioux Falls was named winner of the 54th annual Upper Midwest Regional Auditions of the Metropolitan Opera. The competition was held Saturday, February 17, at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul.
Ammann, a 2006 graduate of Augustana College, represented the Minnesota District against 18 other district winners from Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. She will compete in the national semifinals at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City March 23-24. The next level would be singing with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York City as part of the national finals on Sunday, April 1.
While at Augustana, Ammann was very active in the choral program. She was a four-time performer for the Augustana Concerto/Aria Concert, and she studied voice with Cheryl Koch. She is currently a first-year graduate student in the Opera program at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
