SIOUX FALLS – Mike Amolins, a senior chemistry major from Sioux Falls, is the recipient of the Augustana Covenant Award for Liberal Arts.
Covenant Awards are presented throughout the school year to recognize students who embody Augustana’s five core values – Christian, Liberal Arts, Excellence, Community, Service.
Amolins is the 11th Augustana student to be awarded a Goldwater Scholarship, and he is a two-time winner of the poster competition sponsored by the American Chemical Society’s Sioux Valley Section. He has presented his work in national and international settings and was a research student at the Argonne National Labs in Chicago.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Amolins is the principal saxophone with the Augustana Band, and the lead alto saxophone with the Northlanders Jazz Band.
A graduate of Sioux Falls Lincoln High School, Mike is the son of Betty and Doug Amolins.
