AUGUSTANA – The Augustana Vikings registered their fourth straight top ten national finish by placing ninth at the 2007 NCAA Division II national championships in Kearney, Neb.
Coach Jason Reitmeier’s Vikings entered the championships ranked 14th in the final regular-season national poll. Sparked by four All-America performances, the Vikings advanced from 12th after the opening day of competition to ninth in the final standings.
Cody Henriksen (Arlington, SD) at 174 pounds, Nate Buys (Hull, IA) at 197, Austin Scarset (Westbrook, MN) at 157, and Chris Trampe (Ord, NE) at 125 earned All-America Honors. Henriksen and Buys finished third in their respective weight classes, Scarset was fourth, and Trampe seventh.
The Vikings compiled 48.5 points and were just 10 points removed from fifth place. Central Oklahoma won the team championship with 124.5 points.
