Seven Augie Juniors Receive Christopherson Scholarships

SIOUX FALLS – Seven Augustana College juniors have been awarded Fred C. and J. Marie Christopherson Scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year.

The Augustana Faculty Scholarship and Awards Committee made the selections on the basis of scholarship, campus/community service, and how well the nominees fit the description of the donors as someone “equipped for life.”

Fred C. Christopherson, who died in 1989, was the editor of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader for 31 years. J. Marie Christopherson, who died in 1989, wrote the Driftwood column printed in the Argus Leader for 20 years.

The 2008-2009 recipients are:

Katelin Ahlers, biology major, Marshall, Minn. She is the daughter of Mary and Richard Ahlers of Marshall.

Ashley Ballou, music and French major, Hospers, Iowa. She is the daughter of Linda Nieuwenhuis of Hospers.

Lisa Bengtson, athletic training major, Alta, Iowa. She is the daughter of Donna and Tracy Bengtson of Alta.

Kristin Erdmann, chemistry and secondary education major, Balaton, Minn. She is the daughter of Elizabeth and Gary Erdmann of Balaton.

Shik Ki Li, ACS chemistry major, Hong Kong.

Katie Padilla, music education major, Sioux Falls. She is the daughter of Laverna Padilla of Sioux Falls.

Louisa Soli-Holt, English and elementary education major, Sioux Falls. She is the daughter of Rev. Karen Soli and Joe Holt of Sioux Falls.
