The Augustana Band, the Augustana College/Community Concert Band, and the Augustana Wind Ensemble will be featured during the Spring Band Concert on Thursday May 15.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Elmen Center and is free and open to the public.
The Augustana Band performance will include a solo performance by Benjamin Hasche on euphonium. Hasche is a senior from Sioux Falls majoring in economics and business.
Hasche is principal euphonium and section leader in the Augustana Band and the Augustana Wind Ensemble. He will be performing “Rhapsody for Euphonium and Band” by James Curnow.
The Augustana Wind Ensemble performance will include solo performances by Tasha Nelson on flute and Benjamin Eisele on French Horn.
Nelson, a senior from Westbrook, Minn., is majoring in music education. She is principal flute and section leader in the Augustana Band and the Augustana Wind Ensemble. She will be performing “Carnival of Venice” by Giulio Briccialdi and arranged for band by Anton Coppola.
Eisele, a senior from Sioux Falls, is majoring in religion. He is principal French horn and section leader in the Augustana Band and the Augustana Wind Ensemble. He will be performing the first movement of “Horn Concerto No. 1” by Richard Strauss and transcribed for band by Craig Alberty.
The Augustana Band and the Augustana Wind Ensemble are under the direction of Dr. Bruce T. Ammann
The Augustana College/Community Concert Band is a large instrumental ensemble which includes 40 college students and 60 community members. Community members range in age from high school students to those who are retired. Most all professions are represented within the roster of the community members.
The Augustana College/Community Concert band is under the direction of Dr. Paul R. Schilf.
